Background
German recorder player Wolfgang Kraemer studied with Marion Michel at the Conservatory of Luxembourg. His teachers also included Armgard Pudelko and Walter van Hauwe.
As a soloist and member of various Baroque ensembles Wolfgang has toured Germany and other European countries. He is director of the “Musiktage Merzig” Festival, Germany, including masterclasses and concerts. From 1995 – 2004 he was director of the Jugendmusikschule Untere Saar-Hochwald, a special music school for musically-gifted children in South–West Germany. In 2001 Wolfgang founded the ensemble “Il raccolto”, specialising in the authentic interpretation of Baroque music. In 2004 Wolfgang moved to Christchurch where he became a part time lecturer in recorder and Chamber Music at the University of Canterbury.
In addition he works as a recorder teacher, a chamber musician and a soloist. In 2005 he has toured for Chamber Music New Zealand with “Il raccolto”.
In 2006 he was appointed as director of the Pettman Junior Academy of Music, the pre – University programme of the University of Canterbury School of Music.
