Background
Dame Malvina Major, began her training in New Zealand under Dame Sister Mary Leo, and later, at the London Opera Centre where she received vocal lessons with Professor Ruth Packer. Her successes include winning the prestigious New Zealand Mobil Song Quest, the Australian Melbourne Sun Aria and in London, the Kathleen Ferrier Award.
Dame Malvina has just returned from St Petersburg following an invitation to be a Judge for the Rimsky-Korsakov International singing competition, at the Mariinsky Academy in St Petersburg. She also visited the Royal College of Music in London where she is building a relationship with them for student development.
2007 Included the International Rotary Convention in Salt Lake City. The new International Governor is a New Zealander Bill Boyd. Dame Malvina with another New Zealander Terence Denis performed a lunchtime concert. She hasalso performed with orchestra for the Closing ceremonies. Dame Malvina also sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on their CBC Sunday Broadcast.
She has recorded extensively under the Kiwi Pacific label, and performed over 30 opera roles in original languages.
