Background

Hamish has a Masters degree in composition and lectures courses in Digital Music, Music Theory, MIDI and software such as ProTools, Logic and Sibelius at Canterbury University, Christchurch Polytech, and the Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand. He is also a freelance composer/arranger and performer for television, film, theatre and dance.

His musical interests include improvised music, alternative MIDI controllers, music for silent film, the duduk (an Armenian double reed wind instrument), music for computer and console games, medieval music, and the game/music works of composer John Zorn. As a pianist, he has performed with Hayley Westenra, Bic Runga, and Anika Moa among others.
